The Braintree Scorpions Elite U15 girls soccer team, which features Whitman-Hanson star Samantha Mewis, began their quest for a National Championship on Wednesday. They began action in the round-robin US Youth Soccer National Championships in Little Rock, Arkansas.
The team will play games Wednesday through Friday earning three points for a win and one for a tie. The top two teams coming out of the round-robin round will advance to play for the championship on Saturday and Sunday.
The Scorpions earned a spot in the tournament by winning the US Youth Soccer Regional I Championships this summer and will face off against two teams apiece from California and Texas as well as one from Kansas for the national title.
