The election results are in for Whitman and Hanson.
Hanson Town Clerk Sandra Harris reads the final vote tallies Saturday night.
In Hanson, the Community Preservation Act was adopted by a wide margin, 491 to 259. Planning Board incumbent Gordon Coyle was unseated by Ken Lawson 393 to 307. In the one-year Housing Authority race (Bob Sears was elected to a five year term on that board in an uncontested race) Meetinghouse Lane resident Tom Powers defeated Michael Jones 376 to 318. Jones was not technically an incumbent, but was sitting on the board after he had been appointed by the Board of Selectmen to fill a vacancy.
In Whitman, incumbent Carl Kowalski and challenger Lars Johnson were elected to the Board of Selectmen. The final tallies were Johnson 493, Kowalski 445, Dan Holbrook 31, John Lunnin, Sr. 157, Joseph Balonis 116. There were no other contested races in Whitman.
All these numbers are unofficial. Look for the full officials results in Thursday’s paper.
