East Bridgewater Police have arrested one man after finding numerous explosive devices in his East St. home.

Officers from the East Bridgewater Police Department and the Plymouth County Sheriff's office remained on the scene Friday morning and the explosive devices were harmlessly detonated.

In a prepared statement Spokesperson Sergeant Michael McLaughlin of East Bridgewater police confirmed the arrest of Michael A. Ambrose, 41, of East St. for possession of an incendiary device.  Ambrose will face several counts in Brockton District Court Friday.  He is currently under arrest at the East Bridgewater Police Headquarters.

According to McLaughlin the sequence of events began when Chief Cowan of East Bridgewater Police received information of a possible explosive device within the East St. home.

“After search warrants were obtained by Detective Grillo, the Satucket Regional Tactical Team secured the residence and the Bomb Squad was brought in,” said McLaughlin.

Area homes were evacuated in a perimeter around the home, which is two houses from Trudeau Lane.

McLaughlin said police had been to Ambrose's home before for unrelated incidents, but declined to elaborate.

Scott Amadea and his family were evacuated as they reside next door to Ambrose’s home.

“My family was asked to leave because it was unsafe,” he said. “At first we didn’t know what it was but we heard it was explosives later on the news.  We are still waiting to be cleared to go back home.”

McLaughlin confirmed that several homes are still evacuated and no specifics were available for the reoccupation, as the scene is still active with FBI agents and ATF assisting in detonating devices found in the home.

McLaughlin said there were no injuries reported during the time line of late Thursday and early Friday morning.

Explosions could be heard by neighbors as the bomb squad were reportedly detonating the devices in a safe zone.  The East St area was still blocked to main traffic as of 9:00 am. Friday morning.

The South Eastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council has set up a perimeter to work along with the Bomb Squad, which remains in effect for the second day as police and fire continue their investigation.
