Donald M. Swift, 85, died December 22, 2007 in Lakeland, Florida.  He was the husband of the late Muriel (Corbett) Swift and Gladys (Bouldry) Swift.

Born and raised in Whitman, he was the son of the late Fred and Edith (Harris) Swift.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during WW II having served in the South Pacific from 1941 to 1945 where his duties included heavy truck and marksman rifle motor vehicle driver.

He worked for RE Chapman Co. of West Boylston for 37 years until his retirement to Davenport, Florida.  He is also a retired member of the Labor Union Local #4 Operating Engineers.

He leaves his children, Dawn M. Skitt of Boulder, Co.; Frank W. Swift and his wife and Susan H. of Stratham, N.H and Jayne L. Kruzcowski and her husband Martin of Tyngsboro, Mass.,; his stepson George D. Schou and his wife Virginia; and his sister, Dorothy Murphy of Brockton. He also leaves five grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren and 2 step great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.  He was the father of the late John S. Swift, and stepfather of the late Peter Lolis.  He was predeceased by his siblings Eunice, Jane, Merton, James Thatcher, Arthur, Ellsworth (Ebb), Vivian, Eleanor and Wallace.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 1 at 11 a.m. in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary), Whitman.  Burial will follow in the Jennings Hill Cemetery, Bridgewater.
