letters.jpgThe Hanson Parks and Fields Committee voted 5-0 at a recent meeting to support the CPA (Community Preservation Act) initiative on the ballot this Saturday.  As a committee, we can clearly see what the yearly demands of a growing population and growing programs put on the fields.  Currently the youth softball and youth lacrosse programs are experiencing tremendous growth in participation levels.  At the same time, the more established Hanson youth baseball, soccer and football programs continue to grow as well.  This growth has resulted in an increased demand for field space and scheduling constraints.  CPA funds could be used to procure additional field space as part of its open space component.

Clearly, CPA is not just about procuring more fields.  CPA funds could also be used for many improvements at Camp Kiwanee, improvements to housing at LZ Thomas and Meetinghouse Lane, restoration of historical buildings and acquisition of open space for the benefit of  the entire town.

The Hanson Parks and Fields Committee urges you to support the Community Preservation Act and asks you to vote yes at the annual town election this Saturday, May 17.

Bill Clay

Chairman of  Hanson Parks and Fields Committee
