Ann R. (Reed) Standish, 79, of Pembroke,  died Tuesday, April 29 in Jordan Hospital after a period of failing health.   She was the former wife of Lawrence B. Standish of Florida.

Born in Brockton and raised in Hanson, she was the daughter of the late Halbert and Hannah (Staples) Reed, and a 1946 graduate of Whitman High.

Ann moved to Pembroke in 1951 where she remained for 56 years. 

She worked for many years as a bookkeeper for Joseph Ingles Insurance, Tiny & Sons Glass, Hanson Motor Sales and with her son at Standish Auto Repair.

She truly enjoyed the time spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her former husband, she leaves her sons, Barry Standish of Pembroke, and Bruce Standish of Carver; her brother, Norman Reed of Halifax; her sister, Nancy Worchester of Maine; her grandchildren, Mathew, Kimberly, Mark, Jason, Stacy and Jessica; and four great-grandchildren.  She was the mother of the late Lawrence “Bud” Standish, and longtime companion of the late Fredrick W. “Puppy” Wurtz, 

Visiting hours only will be held Friday, May 2 from 4 – 8 p.m. in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman.  Burial will take place at a later date.  Donations may be made in her name to the Friends of Scituate Animal Shelter, Box 823, Scituate, MA 02066.
